» tinemarie - We have just ended our 3rd year homeschooling.
We have just ended our 3rd year homeschooling. The other years we have taken the summer off, just like public school. This year, we have already taken a lot of time off due to illness, and we will do some light "summer school". Do you school year round or do you take summers off?-- posted by tinemarie

My son attends a charter school (a public school operated as a private school). We don't have long breaks--nothing longer than two weeks--and he attends year 'round. Parents are required to supplement the educational process during breaks. During breaks, he has reading and study guides to work through. He's never bored and he's thriving.-- posted by Lynn1969

In response to Breaks posted by Lynn1969:I have to admit, Lynn, that after one week of breaking from school, my kids are completely bored! We are doing art projects and they have daily math and creative writing break-work, but they miss the order of our day! It is kind of funny, kind of exasperating (I need the break!), and kind of exciting (to know they want to learn!).
I know if I take a 3 month break from something, I certainly have a hard time getting back into it! 2 week breaks would make sense!
