No matter how you to decide to homeschool, sooner or later you will need a vacation. Read on for some good break activities!

Even parents who send their kids to public school find themselves doing some homeschooling come summmertime. After all, we know how quickly "I'm bored" can become a child's favorite mantra when there is no school. Parents find themselves searching for something to occupy those hot summer days.

Whether you are taking a break now or in the future, sooner or later you will need some activities while you vacation from school. They need to be fun. They need to be budget-friendly. So, what can you do?

1. Libraries - the local library is nice and cool, and it is free! There are often programs for kids and teens year round. Join the summer reading program. Even if you opt out of those, there are books galore. Not only books, but audio books, movies, music. The library is a homeschooler's best friend.

2. Museums - Take your school break to check out local museums. Many offer days where admission is free or reduced. Some have programs just for kids.

3. Volunteer - Everyone jumps to volunteer at Christmas, and even Valentine's and Easter rank better-than-average. During the summer, many people forget about volunteer opportunities. There are many a homeschooling family can get involved in. Check with your local city volunteer agency or local churches for what is needed in your area. Not only are you helping those in need when they need it, but you are working together as a family to make the world better.

4. Study - Yes, it is school-break time, but you can still learn! Choose a fun subject and remember that learning can be fun. Study the history of ice-cream, learning how it is made, how much of it is bought annually, take a survey of family and friends' favorite flavors, then end with an ice-cream party.

5. Movies - Become a critic! Study the history of movies, watching age-appropriate movies throughout your break. After, write your own movie review or host your own movie review show.

6. Book club - get together with other homeschooling families, even just one or two, and host your own book club. This is especially popular with pre-teens and teens. Meet once a week at members' homes for book talk and fun.

Most of all, you are taking a break. So, have fun!
