For home schoolers who love fund-raising and contests, check out the 2010 K'NEX Challenge and see what AOP is up to - win an entire year of Switched-On Schoolhouse.

Yes, home schoolers have proven their skills at many a spelling bee and science fair in recent years. So, what is it about home schooling that still leaves the home school family feeling as though they are standing on the outside, looking in?

Fund-raising, for example, has traditionally been a way for public schools to earn extra money for computer labs, sports uniforms, library improvements and more. However, when one home schools, the funds are generally not available, awarded, or handed out. The homeschooling family is on their own. It's time for home schooling families to see that the cup is indeed, half-full!

Home-School Holiday Fundraiser

Christmas wreaths of Maine are made and sold by home schoolers, youth groups and sports teams in all 50 states. The Maine wreaths are undoubtedly one of the most beautiful and aromatic one can find today. Interested? Get started, time is of the essence!

The program is very simple; sign up and get started by receiving a sales kit. Each person will be responsible for showing the brochures to friends, co-workers, teachers, neighbors and family. Take orders and collect payment, then wait for delivery.

What Can a Home Schooler Earn?

A commission of $6 is earned for every wreath sold. The wreaths with presidential pine roping offer commissions of $10 per wreath. These can be sold until November 30th and commission checks will be sent out during the second week of December. Each wreath is made by hand, decorated and shipped from Maine with a 100% guarantee.

Normally, the cost for signing up to receive a sales kit is $10, which is reimbursed when ten wreaths are sold. However, there are two great ways to receive a FREE sales kit:

  • write a 50 word (minimum) essay about how you plan to spend your earnings from selling wreaths
  • draw a picture of a Christmas scene and mail it to Wreaths of Maine, P.O. Box 622, Waldoboro, ME 04572

Enter the 2010 K'NEXpert Classroom Challenge

Enter one's home school in the 2010 challenge and children will reap the benefits. K'NEX is a dynamic, open-ended spatial building system that helps children in several ways:

  • it helps young children build manipulative skills
  • it challenges students to use science, math and technology knowledge and skills
  • it encourages students to apply an organized, logical strategy as they design, build and problem-solve

This building system works so well in the classroom that an entire contest has been designed around it. Sign up for the K'NEXpert Classroom Challenge by December 18, 2009.
